Next New

When it come to new type of new “new media,” we already have some many types of new media. However, I think we need the new media to help find missing people. For example, people can upload the mission person pic on that app and the public whoever using the app will get information in a sec and can help find the missing person. I think this is very important, because many of us don't know the missing person news until we see the news or read newspaper or read the advertisement.  If new media have a app for those “missing people,” I think that will be very helpful to everyone.

Wiki So Far

I did edition and added graphics to the exist page “New Media’s Presence in The Healthcare Industry”. And I created a page called “ New Media” and I talk about some subtopics related to our class new media and expanded it. I worked on layout edition, page editor ( I make sure the page/part I work are organized), added some graphics as well. I added more than 5 paragraphs and added references to my all work, uploaded images and many more other things.

P2P

File sharing can be anything such as multimedia, documents, eBook and so on, across the internet.  P2P file sharing is a type of sharing networking technology, which is free and quickly access to share files.   In this generation P2P file sharing is became very popular. For example, P2P file sharing will be “BitTorrent, one of the most successful peer-to-peer programs ever,” it’s allow users to “quickly upload and download enormous amounts of data, files that are hundreds or thousands of times bigger than a single MP3”.  _______________ The BitTorrent Effect by Clive Thompson, Wired, January 2005. http://www.wired.com/wired/archive/13.01/bittorrent.html

Privacy

New media--such as social media, web and mobile technologies--are rapidly increasing usage in many modern industries.   All type of media is designed by humans, so there is no way you can expect social media to keep all your information safe and confidential. Most of us will never bother to read fine texts or terms and conditions but rush to sign up for any type of social media.   Let's take Facebook, for example; if you create an account on Facebook, and you are the only one person who will have access to it because you created it and that is your account. But Facebook was created by Mark Zuckerberg, who will have full access to all the Facebook user information because he is a founder of the software.   He can track anyone he likes because the user “agreed to the terms and policy” of Facebook. Users give permission to Facebook without realizing it.

Advice

Baruch College can use new media to improve the college in many different ways. Firstly, I would like to update and make some changes to the “Academic Calendar”. The calendar should provide the general registration date for “all students,” so that students will be able to plan ahead. Even sending out the semester calendar for students at the very beginning of the semester will help them plan ahead. Secondly, I’ll like to suggest that Baruch make changes to the login information, like “user ID and user Password” for the library, the computers at campus, and the campus Wi-Fi. Baruch “suggests” students and faculties to use the same format to access these facilities. For example: the user name is “first name initial. last name”   (j.thomas), and the password is “yyMmmdd + last 4 digit social number” (02Nov911234). I think having the same format for“passwords” might cause problems. For example,, if there is someone who knows your information, they will easily be able to access your accoun

Creativity and New Media

https://myatthuzzar7.wixsite.com/unixshoes The above link is a website of my “UniX Soles” line. This website was created for one of my projects. The products on this site are from my imagination. The concept of the product is basically this: a shoe’s sole can charge electronic devices without using a power source except for what is generated in the shoe. The sole charges and gets its power from the motion of walking, hiking, running and basic movement. Also, it includes a small GPS tracking device to track people who are prone to getting lost. The benefits of using the product are (1) it can charge electronic devices and (2) send location signals for when someone is in distress.  Below is a model of my concept!

Creativity

New media has become a very important part of our daily life. New media may effect the quality of life, as users of different new media (social media) have increased over time. Creativity is the ability to create useful/new ideas and innovation to reach out to the whole world by using new media network platforms and social media. Creativity in society is increased by adding new sources of information to people, to create, share and publish content. New media fosters creativity in thought through Blogging, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, using digital tools, interacting anonymously online, etc. Bloggers can able to develop their idea of creative thinking and writing. When you blog, you create thoughts that can reach out to people around the whole world. Technology has also made digital tools much easier to use, as well as more engaging. How? There are tools that people can use—for example, like free storage and graphic design tools—to help brainstorm with other more easily. People

Modeling Reality with Virtual Worlds

Virtual worlds are 3D (three dimensional) environments in which you can interact with others through computer networks. For example, you can go on vocation through virtual world, or you can do whatever you want without moving yourself or getting out from your house. These virtual worlds can be used in many different ways, such as sports, games, science, hospital treatments, educations and movies. Pros: People don’t have to be afraid to show their feelings, many people feel more comfortable and do things more safely in their “virtual world.” People will be less scared about how others will think or feel about them. Cons:  People will interact less with others. In other words they will isolate themselves from others by using virtual worlds. Relationships with real people will become less common and more difficult. Virtual worlds can be used to benefit students who are taking online classes. Online classes about “technology education” are one of the best examples of “online virtu

Blog about Twitter

Twitter discussion is very different from Blackboard Discussion. When users participate on Twitter discussions or response to a post, the user will use <#hashtag@username>on every post, so that the other users can see for whom the response is and for which post. On other hand, on BlackBoard, if students want to discuss or reply to the discussion board on Blackboard, they can directly reply or quote or email author on the post. Also, on Blackboard there is no limit to the length of a post. An in-class discussion is a real-time discussion that is gone after the class is finished. Discussions online can be saved for past a semester. Online discussions can be better sometimes, because you have more time to think about what to say.

Blog: Social networking sites

Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and SnapChat Facebook is dedicated mainly to stories, games, page promotions and pictures. You can share pictures and stories about your day, news or other posts. You can chat and use Facebook’s video call worldwide. Facebook doesn’t have a time limit for either pictures or videos. Twitter is mainly to share serious elements such as news. Twitter also has games, built-in analytics and page promotion. Twitter is very detailed, it has a smaller character limit, up to only 280 characters. Instagram is mainly dedicated to pictures, stories, game and webpage promotion. Instagram has a time limit on videos (you can only upload up to 60 seconds) and pictures (you can upload 10 pictures per post). SnapChat is mainly dedicated to pictures, viewers, and screenshot notifications. SnapChat is mostly used for per-day activities. For example, you can post pictures and videos but your followers are able to view only within 24hrs of your upload, because it will auto

Blog Social networking

There are many technologies can be used in the corporate world. There are old technologies like ground mails, fax and telegram but now our new technologies are very advance like IT services, cloud storage, business class mail, business internet, intent messaging and etc. Nowadays in the corporate world, most of our works done electronically. The main reason was the computer invention.  There are a lot of advantages of the technologies to society. First, the development of technology is beneficial to humans for many reason. At the medical level, technology can provide a very advanced treatment and it can be very helpful to doctors and patients. For example, technology can help doctors to treat more sick people and save many lives, cure very harmful diseases and viral infections. Secondly, healthcare can benefit from technologies by helping lab research.   On the dark side, standards for communications are very poor on social media. If the communication is poor, then there will

Blog v Wiki

A blog is short for a personal “weblog.” It usually has a single author. Sometimes can have multiple contributors. It is a public space where everyone can view and add comments on any post. Blogs can be very personal, unique in style and controlled by an individual. A blog is usually where an author shares their thoughts and ideas at that moment, so they are historical and relevant to people at a point in time.   A wiki is a website that allows multiple users to create, modify and organize web page content in a combining manner. Wikis are open so that people can combine and connect with other people within a circle of wiki users (Wikipedia on Wikis). In a wiki, there are managers that control the content (but there are different ways to do this (Cohen 2009). In our wiki, our instructor grades each participant individually and looks over the wiki.  I do not know how important it is that there be convergence of people through blogs and wikis. For example, I wonder if too many pe

Term paper topic: New media and healthcare industry

My research topic for this course is the role of new media in the healthcare industry. I am interested in a career in the healthcare sector and hope to learn more about new practices in the industry involving new media. New media is changing every industry but the way it is affecting the healthcare industry is both good and bad. I will therefore be using the “Analysis” approach for my research paper, which compares positive and negative aspects of a topic.  New media can be good for the industry in many ways. For example, the doctor-patient relationship can be helped by video-calling or live-chats. Also, patients can find doctors and learn about them through social networks or sites for the healthcare community. Doctors can also connect with other doctors and collaborate on research through blogs, crowdsourcing sites and professional networks. Apps that are provided by new media are really helpful to the healthcare industry because they help store and share patient information

What's New Media?

We are now living in the 21st Century and there is no doubt about how new media is growing and rapidly moving away from old media. What kind of technologies do we refer to as "new media"? There are many things we can call "new media," such as Twitter, Instagram, FaceTime and video communication (like online lectures), blogs, Facebook, and Snapchat. These new media have changed our lives.
